Lyrics

After competing my shoots and writing out/scanning in my ‘slogans’ for my zine, I’ve decided the zine won’t suit a full written piece as it feels more aesthetic based. However, I still want some kind of text in the zine, so I thought it would be fitting to include some punk lyrics that have a political meaning behind them. I’ve found a couple written by the original punks, especially those from Northern Ireland, including the infamous Stiff Little Fingers and their Troubles anthem ‘Alternative Ulster.’ I also found some more contemporary artists such as a band that tours Belfast chanting about the DUP and the like called Sister Ghost, and an Indie singer called Joshua Burnside who doesn’t normally sing about politics but wrote a song called ‘Red White and Blues’ that particularly spoke to me.

I’ve handwritten these lyrics and scanned them in to include in my zine.
