I’ve been looking into styles of magazines a little more and the two biggest mags I want to take inspiration from are Dazed and I-D. I like that the two magazines have a focus on fashion to a degree, but also largely focus on issues in culture and politics.
What I like most about the mags is less so the visual, and more so the writing style. They’re both known to be a lil controversial at times, but I kind of love that, plus if I’m taking the Punk shock factor on board, that’s what I should be aiming for. I like how opinionated articles from Dazed are, they aren’t afraid to go to one side of the debate with full force, and I like the language used in I-D articles for it’s chatty, young feel, using swear words and slang galore.
I plan to take aspects of both mags and use them for my own work, especially since they are clearly effective, considering how successful both mags are.
